If you’re reading this, you found our new website. Welcome! This felt like the right moment to write down the story we usually tell in Discord voice chat: where Autonomous came from, what we’re building on Area 52, and why this site exists at all.
Why We Formed Autonomous
Autonomous was formed when members of another guild saw the need for something better. We’d all seen the same pattern play out. A guild grows, leadership tightens its grip, and suddenly raid teams are being managed like departments in a corporation.
We believed a guild should be a cohesive community where players have real choices, and where raid teams run things the way they see fit. It’s a game, after all! So we built the guild we wanted to be in.
The name isn’t an accident. Autonomous means every team owns its own roster, its own loot rules, and its own schedule. The guild exists to support the teams, not the other way around.
What That Means for You
- A home for every kind of player. From first-time raiders to Cutting Edge progression, plus a Mythic+ community that runs keys every night of the week.
- You can grow without leaving. Outgrow your team’s pace, or need to slow down? You move within Autonomous instead of starting over somewhere new.
- The people making decisions are the people at the pull. Your team lead raids with you. Nobody’s calling shots from a spreadsheet.
Several Teams, One Fresh Start
Autonomous didn’t start from scratch. Several raid teams made the move from our old guild together, and it says a lot that they did! Not long after we settled in, a brand new team formed right here at home, and we haven’t slowed down since. Today we’re a full mega-guild on Area 52 (US), with a highly active Discord and mythic+ community. You’re never just a number with us. Our guild culture is based on the premise that we are ONE community. When not raiding, community members are frequently doing other content together. Building camaraderie, getting to know each other, forming lasting friendships and cohestion that makes for a tight-knit community. There are no team silos so you’re not left feeling isolated while everyone hangs out in channels you can’t access.
Why We Built This Website
Discord is great for talking. It’s terrible for finding things! Guild info scattered across pinned messages and channel topics wasn’t cutting it for a community this size. So we built a real home:
- Our teams with schedules, progression, and how joining works
- The full guild roster, every member by class and role.
- A guild calendar with every raid night and community event in one place
- News like this post, covering progression, recruitment, and community highlights
- Our streamers, so you can watch raid nights, keys, and other community events live.
- Open positions, always current, so you can see exactly where you’d fit
